Costa MayaOverview Chinchorro Majahual Xcalak

As government funded improvements along the Mayan Coast progress, real estate prices continue to rise. But prices on the Costa Maya are still well below the prices on the Mayan Riviera to the North.

Infrastructure improvements include new roads and highways, fiber optics, water, electricity, marinas, and three airports. Major private sector improvements include a cruise ship dock with oceanfront shopping mall, resort hotels, a beach club/marina, restaurants and professional golf courses.

The Costa Maya is a government sponsored investment to rejuvenate the economy of the southern part of the state of Quintana Roo. As a buyer you are merely following the investments of the federal and state governments. With its new cruise ship dock, Costa Maya is being successfully promotoed as a cruise ship destination in the western Caribbean. To further attract nautical tourism, several marinas are planned along Costa Maya at Xcalak, Mahahual, and El Uvero.

In calendar year 2001, over 229,000 people visited the Costa Maya on cruise ships. Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Celebrity, Princess, Norwegian, Disney, Carnival, Cunard, and Regal have started docking at the Costa Maya. It is estimated that 910,000 passengers will arrive in 2005.
